An article from the Netherlands has indicated that Danny Hoesen is close to resigning with the San Jose Earthquakes. If true, the Quakes would have their attacking corps set for 2017.
Hoesen came on strong towards the latter half of 2017, finishing with three goals in his last six games as a starter to help the Quakes make the 2017 playoffs for the first time in four years. (Why Hoesen wasn’t starting all season is a question for Dom Kinnear.)
If he returns, San Jose would have a potent attack with Magnus Eriksson, Danny Hoesen, Chris Wondolowski, and Vako. It would also certainly push forward Quincy Amarikwa out of the starting 18, and possibly towards the Quakes USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC.
After the season, I mentioned that Hoesen should be returning, while his fellow players Bernardez, Bingham, Cato, Colvey, Imperiale, Silva, Sarkodie, and Urena probably would not return. Time will tell if Pelosi or Wynne will be back (for the record, I expect Wynne to return while Pelosi probably won’t).
Expect an announcement in the coming days.
