A potentially disastrous story is turning out to be a miracle. Quakes prospect and current Reno 1868 FC team member Matheus Silva had to be resuscitated after almost drowning while swimming in Lake Tahoe early Tuesday morning.
Initial reports indicate that Silva was not breathing, nor was his heart beating. First responders were able to perform CPR and regain a pulse and breathing before Silva was transported to a local hospital, then flown to a hospital in Reno.
A few days after the incident, the Quakes have reported that Silva has woken from his coma, and seems to be responsive to questioning. Only time will tell the extent of Silva’s injuries, and if he’ll make a full recovery. The good news is that it appears he will survive the incident.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Matheus for a full recovery.
