Reno 1868 FC Lose First Match

March 26, 2017

After an amazing preseason, Reno 1868 FC lost its first match of the regular season to the Orange County SC in the United Soccer League.

A few Quakes were on the squad, including goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell, defender Matheus Silva, and midfielder Jackson Yueill.

Don’t read too much into the loss. Reno was missing two key pieces of their team: El Salvadorian midfielder Junior Burgos was called to his native El Salvador, and scored for El Salvador in their friendly against Curacao on March 22–Quakes midfielder Darwin Ceren also played for El Salvador. Quakes defender¬†Kip Colvey was also missing from the Reno side with his New Zealand call-up. Also, it’s difficult for a club to have three players added to the starting roster and expect the team to be flawless.

Next up: Vancouver Whitecaps 2 on April 1st (no foolin!) at Greater Nevada Field.
