The Quakes will probably make the official announcement tomorrow that Panamanian midfielder (and international teammate of Quakes midfielder Anibal Godoy) Alberto Quintero has been loaned to the team. As far as I know, Jason Espinosa (@408kidd) broke the news via twitter, and confirmed it when a picture circulated of Quintero at the Sac Republic/Quakes game on Saturday. This is on the heels of several Quakes FO staff following his twitter account (@negritime) over the past few days.
Also, fans have been asking about season tickets. I’ve heard that tickets will be mailed out early this week and arriving midweek. Check your mail on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Finally, roster moves. The Quakes have big moves to make this week in order to be roster compliant by Friday. The team has four DPs, and is only allowed three by rule. My guess is that Matias Perez Garcia will be cut. He is no longer on the “first team” rotation this preseason, and Tommy Thompson was subbed in on Saturday over MPG when Cato was injured. Quintero also plays MPG’s position of attacking midfielder, hence why I think the writing may be on the wall for MPG’s exit from San Jose. Getting red-carded twice at the end of the season last year probably didn’t help his case, either.
I expect Patrick Hodan and Ty Thompson to be cut this week, and possibly Adam Jahn reassigned to Sacramento or also cut. I also expect Kip Colvey to make the team’s final roster.
The Quakes finish their preseason this Saturday versus New York Cosmos at Avaya, 7pm. See you there!
