Buringame Dragons FC, the Quakes Premiere Development League (PDL) affiliate, has been making some serious off-season moves this month, signing their 6th player in just over two weeks. (In case you are wondering what the PDL is, Colin Etnire does a great job of explaining it. In a nutshell, it’s a U-23 league in which college players can play without losing college eligibility.)
Today Burlingame announced the signing of University of Vermont/Canadian forward Brian Wright. Wright’s collegiate career is impressive: 63 total points (goals + assists) in just 58 games. That’s averaging over a point per game!
Wright’s signing adds more offensive depth to the Dragons, which includes notable players such as former U.S. U-17 Josh Smith, USMNT U-20 ‘keeper JT Marcinkowski, and Cal Bears players Josh Morton, Nick Lima, and Sam Ebstein.
In their first season last year, the Dragons won the PDL Southwest Division championships, and look to continue that momentum this year.
If you are looking to watch quality soccer at a great price, all preseason games are free, and I highly recommend picking up some season tickets for under a hundred bucks! This is also a great chance to look at players who may be future players for the San Jose Earthquakes.
