It’s not an elimination game, but it’s a must-win if the Quakes want to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Quakes have one point to show for two home games, and as the season comes to a close, points are a precious commodity.
According to the Montreal Gazette, many of Monteal’s regular players won’t be starting tonight, including Chelsea alum forward Didier Drogba, midfielders Ignacio Piatti, Marco Donadel, Justin Mapp, Laurent Ciman, and ‘keeper Evan Bush, opting to rest these players for Saturday’s match versus Eastern Conference rival New England Revolution.
The Quakes should take advantage of this opportunity as we are playing a defensively-suspect NYCFC team on Saturday.
I’m guessing Salinas, Cato, and possibly Godoy will be on the bench to rest them up for Saturday’s match. I would expect to see Amarikwa starting, along with Wondo up top, Tommy getting his first start of the season in place of Cato, MPG and Pelosi as center-mids, and Leo Barrera on the left wing. Defensively I expect the same starters of Wynne, Alashe, Goodson, and Francis with Bingham minding the net.
I’m predicting a shut-out win for the Quakes as Montreal shouldn’t be able to break down our defense with a good chunk of their team back in Canada. I think we should win comfortably 2-0 with goals from . . . Pelosi and Wondo. 🙂
