The Earthquakes signed Innocent Emeghara on Saturday, January 31st. The Nigerian-Swiss forward (born in Nigeria, moved to Switzerland when he was 13) is the third DP the team has on the roster, with Chris Wondo and Matias Perez Garcia (Ohhhh, Perez Garcia!) rounding out the list.
My guess is that he will fill the #9 roll as a center-forward, or the #10 as the attacking mid. This is good as we’ve been sorely lacking at center mid ever since Simon Dawkins returned to England. The beauty is that Emeghara and MPG can swap as needed in the mid-field, allowing Wondo to find space on the attack. This signing, combined with Fatai Alashe, creates a lot of speed for the team in the middle of the field, speed which could be potent by opening up the field.
